Hymn GTG #298, “Lord, You Give the Great Commission”
Hymn GTG #767, “Together We Serve”
Hymn GTG #296, “God in Grace and Make Disciples”

Call to Worship (based on Acts 2:36-38)

Leader: Let all people know beyond question that God has made this Jesus both Lord and Christ.
People: Kindred, what should we do?
Leader: Change your hearts and lives!
People: We will change them!
Leader: Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!
People: We welcome her! Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on Acts 2:40)

Leader: Peter exhorts us to “Be saved from this perverse generation!” But before we begin to imagine some evil “other” that compromises our salvation, let us remember that we ourselves are a part of this generation. Therefore, let us confess our sins before God and one another, so that the Lord might save us from ourselves.

Prayer of Confession (based on Acts 2:42-46)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: God of holy transformation, we confess that we do not always act like a beloved community. You call us to change our hearts and lives, but we resist learning from each other, sharing that which you have given to us, and reveling in the way you reveal yourself through others. We cling to our possessions and our ignorance alike. We are unable to enjoy the gladness and simplicity that is our heritage. Forgive us, O Holy One. Open our hearts and minds to the change that you have placed in our path, so that we might more faithfully work towards your kindom of community and belonging for all.  In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on Acts 2:39)

Leader: Hear the good news – this promise is for you, your children, and for all who are far away: in Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
