Hymn GTG #374, “O Holy City, Seen of John”
Hymn GTG #266, “Joy to the World”

Call to Worship (based on Revelation 21:6, 22:1)

Leader: Come to the river of life-giving water,
People: Which flows from the throne of God.
Leader: Come, all who are thirsty, and drink deeply,
People: For its crystal waters are given freely.
Leader: Come and worship the Alpha and the Omega!
People: Come, let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on Revelation 22:5)

Leader: When the glory of God shines fully, no longer will any shadow be able to conceal our sin from us. Let us choose to reject the shadows now and bring our sin to light through confession.

Prayer of Confession (based on Revelation 21:4-5)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or
collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: Divine Light, we hear that you are making all things new, and we rejoice. But in our excitement for the new heaven and new earth that you have promised, we forget that the former things must also pass away. We look for new life without letting go of that which tethers us to the old. Forgive us for clinging to things that bring pain and death into this world, simply because it’s what we know. Forgive us for putting our convenience over and above the kindom which is to come. The plans that you have for us are better than our own - grant us the wisdom to embrace them as trustworthy and true. In your mercy, hear our prayers…

(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on Revelation 22:3)

Leader: Through God’s mercy and grace, the curse of sin no longer binds us. Hear the good news: in Christ’s name, we are forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
