Call to Worship (based on Acts 14:13)

Leader: Worshipers of Zeus and Hermes bring bulls and wreaths as sacrifices.
People: But the Lord takes no delight in burnt offerings and worthless gifts.
Leader: What, then, shall we bring to the living God?
People: We have come to offer all of ourselves to the Lord.
Leader: Let us rejoice that Christ is risen!
People: He is risen, indeed!
Leader: Let us worship the Resurrected One!

Call to Confession (Based on Acts 14:8-10)

Leader: It was faith that allowed a certain man in Lystra to be healed and walk. In that same faith, let us lift up our wounded spirits to God, confessing our sin, so that God might heal that which is broken within us.

Unison Prayer of Confession (Based on Acts 14:15-16)

People: Loving God, we hear your prophets cry, “the Lord is our God, the Lord alone”. But we close our ears. We hear your apostles proclaiming the good news to all people. But we close our ears. We hear your servants declaring your authority over the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them. But still, we close our ears. Instead, we choose to go our own way, worshiping you one moment and worshiping false gods in the next. Forgive us, O Holy One. Help us to turn to you, the Living God, and away from the worthless idols of our own making. In your mercy, hear our prayer… (Silent prayers of personal forgiveness)

Declaration of Forgiveness (Based on Acts 14:15)

Leader: I am no more than a human, just like you, but I know this good news to be true, and so I share it with you joyfully: in turning to the living God, you have been freed from sin. In Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven! Thanks be to God!
