Call to Worship (based on Psalm 150)

Leader: Praise God with lute and lyre!
People: Praise God with drum and dance!
Leader: Praise God with strings and pipe!
People: Praise God with loud, crashing cymbals!
Leader: Praise the Lord!
People: Let every living thing praise the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on 2 Samuel 5:3)

Leader: As members of a community of faith, we live lives based in covenant, both with God and with one another. Let us fulfill our covenant relationships by holding ourselves accountable and seeking reconciliation through the confession of sin.

Popcorn Prayer of Confession (based on 2 Samuel)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.

When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:
People: Holy Three-In-One, you call us to unity in diversity, but we instead seek unity in uniformity. We use force and violence to achieve our ends, and we gloss over the unsavory parts of our history. Help us to see our heroes and ourselves with clear eyes, so that we might learn from our past mistakes and celebrate only the real victory: a unity created in your relational image.  In your mercy, hear our prayers…
 (Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on 2 Samuel 6:5)

Leader: Friends, let us celebrate with all our strength! Lift up your songs, play your zithers, harps, tambourines, and cymbals! In Christ, we have all been forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
