*Call to Worship (based on Revelation 13:12-14)

Leader: The powers of this world claim authority that is not theirs to wield.
People: But we are not deceived.
Leader: They speak blasphemy, demand homage, and try to use us for their own ends.
People: But we are not deceived.
Leader: We belong not to any power of this world, but to the Lord of our salvation alone.
People: Let us worship the one true God.

Call to Confession (based on Revelation 13:14)

Leader: The deception of God’s adversary is great, but if we pretend that we are no more than innocent victims of spiritual warfare, then we deceive ourselves to an even greater degree. Let us confess our sins before God and one another.

Prayer of Confession (based on Revelation 13:3b-6)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or
collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: Holiest of Lords, to you alone belong the kingdom, the power, and the glory, always and forever. And yet, time and time again, we submit ourselves to other powers. Our heads are turned by displays of wrath and fury. We accept blasphemies as truth, so long as they are spoken in a powerful voice. We admire and worship these powers, asking, “Who is like them? Who can fight against them?” Forgive us Lord, for we already know in our hearts that You are the answer we seek. Give us the courage to follow and trust in you alone. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on Revelation 13:9-10)

Leader: Enduring and faithful saints, whoever has ears must listen: you belong to Christ alone. In his name, all of our sins have been forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
