Call to Worship (based on John 2:1-11)

Leader: In times of celebration and in times of anxiety,
People: God provides.
Leader: When we face the unexpected,
People: God provides.
Leader: In ways big and small,
People: God provides - let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on John 2:7-9)

Leader: Like the jars of water at the wedding in Cana, we are in need of transformation. Let us submit to Jesus’ miraculous power by confessing our sins.

Prayer of Confession (based on John 2:3-5)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:
People: O Great Provider, there is so much need in the world. We see it every day: in far away lands and right in front of us. And yet, we refuse to lift a finger to stop it. We cry, “What does that have to do with me?” and “Won’t someone else do something?” Forgive us our inaction, O Lord. Move our hearts with the empathy and compassion of Christ, and align our will and our actions with his. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on John 2:9)

Leader: Hear the good news: without fanfare or explanation, God has miraculously transformed our guilt into reconciliation through grace. In Christ’s name, we are all forgiven.
People: Thanks be to God!
