Call to Worship

Leader: Let us gather at the feet of the holy one.
People: Let God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
Leader: We come with simple words of thanksgiving and praise,
People: We come to worship our Father in heaven - holy is God's name!
Leader: The Lord be with you!
People: And also with you!
Leader: Let us worship the Lord.

Call to Confession

Leader: Every week, we pray that God “lead us not into temptation.” Yet it is not by God’s hand that we find ourselves covered in sin time after time; it is our own doing. But Jesus promises that when we pray for deliverance from the evil in our hearts and all around us, God responds to our repentance with grace and forgiveness. Let us confess our sins together without fear.

Unison Prayer of Confession

People: Merciful God, you know what we need before we ask. We know that no human language can adequately encompass all the penance that we owe. We know that empty words pouring from our mouths are meaningless to you. Therefore, our simple prayer is this: we are sinners. Forgive us for the ways we have wronged you and help us to likewise forgive those who have wronged us. In your mercy, hear this and every unspoken prayer on our hearts…
[Silent prayers of personal forgiveness]

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: The treasures of this earth can be stolen by thieves and destroyed by moths and rust. But the treasures of heaven are eternal and invaluable. Hear and treasure this Good News in your heart: in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God!
