People: Holy One, we know that faith alone is sufficient for your grace, but we forget that faith does not exist in isolation. You call us not only to faith, but to virtuousness, to knowledge, to self-control, to perseverance, to reverence, to mutual affection, and to love. We confess, O Lord, that we willingly take part in a society that sees virtue as weakness. That we embrace the simplicity of ignorance. That we readily give in to our desires, to our impatience, and to our self-worship. But most of all, God, we confess that we fail to love as you have loved – as you have called us to love.
