Call to Worship (based on John 4:50, 53)

Leader: Jesus promises life. Do you believe his words?
People: I believe!
Leader: Jesus heals the sick and brokenhearted. Do you believe in his power and authority?
People: We believe!
Leader: Come, then; let us worship Jesus the Christ!
People: Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on John 4:47-50)

Leader: When we come to Jesus asking for help, Jesus responds with merciful healing. Let us bring our sin to Jesus so that we, too, might be healed.

Prayer of Confession (based on Hebrews 11:1, John 4:48)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: Steadfast and Loyal One, we know that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. And yet, we confess that your promises are often not enough for us. We crave a more tangible faith. We ask for miraculous signs and wonders in our own lives as proof of your power and love. Forgive us, O God, and help our unbelief. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on John 4:53)

Leader: In this very hour, Jesus has spoken and granted us new life. Hear the Good News: in Christ’s name, we are all forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
