Call to Worship (based on Acts 16:25-26)

Leader: Let us praise the Lord,
People: So that those around us can’t help but listen!
Leader: Let us sing hymns to our God,
People: Such that it shakes the very ground beneath our feet!
Leader: Let us live so that all might be freed from the chains that bind us!
People: Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on Acts 16:30-31)

Leader: What must we do to be rescued from our sin? Nothing more and nothing less than trust in the Lord. With faith in Christ’s ability and willingness to save us, let us confess our sin.

Prayer of Confession (based on Acts 16:19, 26-28)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: Author of Justice, we know that Christ’s resurrection has liberated all people, but we confess that we only care about the ways that it liberates us. We act as though others’ freedom in Christ impinges on our own. We have forgotten that your grace is not a finite resource. Forgive us, we pray. Remind us that the freedom you offer to each of us is tied to the freedom you’ve given to all of us, and grant us the resolve to live our whole lives according to this divine truth.  In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on Acts 16:26)

Leader: In Christ, we find freedom. The shackles of our sin have fallen away and no longer bind us. I proclaim to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, that we are all forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
