Call to Worship

Leader: God called Abram to leave behind his land, family, and home.
People: Where God calls, we will follow.
Leader: The Lord’s Word is good; the Lord’s promises are true.
People: Where God calls, we will follow.
Leader: The Lord be with you!
People: [Respond with indicated gesture:] And also with you!
Leader: Let us worship the Lord.

Call to Confession

Leader: The Lord called Abram to be a blessing for all the earth, and Abram listened. He did not always make the right choice, but always: he listened. He would not live to see his legacy, but still: he listened. Let us listen now to the call God is placing on our lives, a call to repentance and reconciliation.

Unison Prayer of Confession

People: Lord of our ancestors, you have promised great things to your people, and in your grace, you have delivered. In turn, you have called us is to be a blessing to all the earth, and yet we consistently let you down. We deny our responsibility to your creation, allowing your children to go hungry, to suffer in endless wars, and to live without hope. We care only for ourselves, and we are wrong. Forgive us, O Lord. Let your grace flow through us and out into the world that you so love. Help us to be instruments of your will instead of our own. In your mercy, hear our prayer…

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: God, in Christ Jesus, holds us all in love and will lead us into a new journey together, a future filled with hope. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.
