Leader: Moses came down from Mount Sinai and set before the people all the words that the Lord commanded him.
People: May we have ears to hear them!
Leader: God has given us both covenant and commandments to bless our lives.
People: May we have the wisdom to receive them!
Leader: The Lord be with you!
People: [Respond with indicated gesture:] And also with you!
Leader: Let us worship the Lord.
Call to Confession
Leader: God’s covenant is not a measure of our righteousness, but a way for us to live in honest relationship with the Lord. Therefore, we come before God each week, confessing the ways that we’ve fallen short of this covenant, so that we might once again be reconciled to the one whose love knows no bounds. Let us confess our sins before God and one another.
Unison Prayer of Confession
Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: Kindred in Christ, the whole earth belongs to God, and yet God has chosen humanity as God’s most precious possession. Nothing we do can ever change this. Hear this good news: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

Unison Prayer of Confession
People: God of deliverance, you have rescued us from slavery to sin, and yet we neglect your simple commandments. We serve the gods of profit and ideology. We idolize our flags and status symbols as if they were more powerful than you. We abuse your name for our own purposes. We treat community and rest as the needs of the weak, instead of blessings from you. We overlook those who take care of us. We dishonor the gift of life and the vows we make to one another. We take what is not ours to take. We gossip and slander, and we covet what others have instead of accepting the abundance you provide. Forgive us, O God. Help us to change our habits and our lives so that we might be more faithful to you, both within ourselves and out in the world. In your mercy, hear our prayer…
