*Call to Worship (based on Psalm 133)

Leader: How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
People: God has anointed God’s people as family.
Leader: Together, we seek God’s blessing.
People: The Lord has ordained blessing for those living in beloved community.
Leader: Thanks be to God!
People: Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on Deuteronomy 15:5)

Leader: The Lord’s voice calls on us daily to obey every bit of God’s commandments. Let us now confess and repent of the pieces we have missed or ignored.

Unison Prayer of Confession (based on Deuteronomy 15:1-10)

People: Merciful One, each week, we pray, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,” but we rarely do our part. We, who have been forgiven an insurmountable debt in Christ, refuse to release others from their obligations to us. We are unable to imagine a world without relationships defined by the money that we owe one another. The numbers in our ledgers have become more important to us than the letters of your Law. Help us to obey every bit of your commandment, and to remember that we have been given much so that we might, in turn, give much to others. Release us from the grip of avarice and awake within us a spirit of generosity. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal forgiveness)

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: Friends, hear this good news: the Lord our God is defined by mercy, forgiveness, and love. What a joy it is to be a part of this generous inheritance! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
