Hymns
Hymn GTG #12, “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”
Hymn GTG #287, “Gracious Spirit, Heed Our Pleading”

Call to Worship (based on 1 Timothy 1:17)

Leader: To the king of the ages,
People: To the immortal, invisible, and only God,
Leader: May honor and glory be given to the Lord, forever and always!
People: Forever and always!
Leader: Let us worship the God of our salvation!
People: Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on 1 Timothy 1:15)

Leader: This saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. In recognition of our own sin, let us seek Christ’s salvation through repentance.

Prayer of Confession (based on 1 Timothy 1:13)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: Patient and Merciful One, we come before you in repentance. We have blasphemed: we have done things in your name that do not honor you. We have persecuted: we have done harm to those we consider to be wrong. We have been insolent: we have disrespected you and those you love. We have acted in ignorance and unbelief. We know that we do not deserve forgiveness for these things, O Lord. But we pray for your merciful nature to overcome our sin, so that we might serve you and your gospel of love in wisdom and in faith. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on 1 Timothy 1:14)

Leader: The grace of the Lord overflows for us with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. I assure you that in his holy name, we are all forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
