Call to Worship (based on 2 Timothy 2:8-10)

Leader: Remember Jesus Christ, who was raised from the dead.
People: This is our Good News!
Leader: We may be bound by sin and suffering,
People: But God’s Word cannot be imprisoned, even by death.
Leader: Remember your salvation through this Word, and be glad!
People: Let us worship the Lord!

Call to Confession (based on 2 Timothy 2:11-12)

Leader: If we have died together with Christ, we will also live together with him. So let us die to our sin by confessing together so that we might find new life in Christ..

Prayer of Confession (based on 2 Timothy 2:14-15)

You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:

People: God of Truth, you sent us your Word to teach and to guide, to encourage and to heal. But although we were created in your image, we use our own words differently. We use them to argue and to divide, to insult and to wound. Where your Word creates, ours destroys. Forgive us, O Holy One. Transform our words of anger and hate into words of truth and love. In your mercy, hear our prayers…
(Silent prayers of personal confession)

Declaration of Forgiveness (based on 2 Timothy 2:13)

Leader: Even when we are disloyal, Christ remains faithful, because he cannot deny his own merciful nature. Therefore, it is in Christ’s name that I declare we are all forgiven!

People: Thanks be to God!
