Leader: God called Abram, saying, “I will make of you a great nation,
People: And I will bless you.
Leader: I will make your name respected,
People: And you will be a blessing.”
Leader: How good it is to serve this God of abundant blessing!
People: Let us worship the Lord!
Call to Confession (based on Genesis 12:4)
Leader: Abram left his homeland with nothing more than a promise from God. Yet we, who have seen all of God’s promises fulfilled, remain afraid to leave our old lives behind. Let us find the courage to take the first step by confessing our sin together.
Prayer of Confession (based on Genesis 12:2-3)
You are invited to speak a word or short phrase that describes a personal or collective sin of which you repent and seek forgiveness.
When the gathered community is finished sharing, we pray together:
People: God of all goodness, you have blessed us beyond measure. We easily recognize the many gifts that you have given to us; yet too often, our response ends with our gratitude. We forget that you have set your people apart not only to receive your blessings, but to share them throughout the earth. And time and again, we have failed you. Forgive us, O Lord, for our self-centeredness. Help us show our gratitude for your blessings by sharing them. In your mercy, hear our prayers…

Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: All of God’s promises, from the beginning of time until now, have been fulfilled once and for all in Christ. Therefore, hear this Good News: it is in his holy name that we have been forgiven!
People: Thanks be to God!
